HEDIS background

HEDIS stands for Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set. The main purpose of our work is to gather, synthesize, and analyze healthcare data from hospitals, doctors’ offices, and other medical facilities throughout the nation in an effort to improve healthcare outcomes, which we have been doing since the HEDIS organization was founded, in 1997. The past 17 years have chronicled great achievements in the healthcare industry—in part because of the work our HEDIS nurses do in their work from home healthcare job each day.

Our awesome team

Every qualified nurse on our team is responsible, meticulous, and thoughtful as they conduct their work. It’s a special group of people that really works hard to achieve their goals. When you join the HEDIS nurse team, you’ll be part of something so much bigger than yourself, so much bigger than one particular doctors’ office or hospital—you’ll be part of a national movement to improve patient outcomes. All from the comfort of your own home office! You can’t find a better work from home healthcare job out there.

Healthcare data we collect and study

You might be wondering, how does HEDIS make an impact on healthcare outcomes? It’s a great question. We do this by collecting data from healthcare facilities and directly from patient surveys on just about everything that relates to the patient experience. This data is divided into 8 categories:

  • Access/availability of care
  • Effectiveness of care
  • Experience of care
  • Health plan descriptive information
  • Health plan stability
  • Informed healthcare choices
  • Utilization and relative resource use

This data collection happens once a year, and then findings are published publicly for anyone to review. Hospitals can compare their patient outcomes to similar hospitals and if they are lagging behind in an area or two, administrators know what they need to focus on to boost their performance. Likewise with doctors’ offices and other medical facilities.

Going green

Part of the data analysis we do here at HEDIS promotes green initiatives. We rate healthcare facilities on their wise use of resources, which eventually improves outcomes, lessens waste and ultimately saves money. Lots of people are trying to be more eco-friendly in every aspect of their lives—including their healthcare decisions, and HEDIS whole-heartedly supports that.
